Jerome Onguene, a 25-year-old Red Bull Salzburg soccer player, has made a name for himself by balancing his passion for sports with his love of the arts. He is best known as a talented midfielder, but he is also an avid collector of paintings. We want to know more about the man behind the art and the soccer star.
A force on the field
Jerome Onguene started playing football in Cameroon at the age of 8. At 14 he joined a professional team in France where he continued to hone his skills until finally joining Red Bull Salzburg in 2018. Since then he has had much success with the team, scoring 11 goals and helping his teammates on numerous occasions. As well as being an integral part of Red Bull Salzburg's success, he was also voted one of the 100 most promising footballers under the age of 21 in 2020 by Soccer Bible magazine.
An eye for art
Jerome Onguene is not only a successful athlete, but also an art collector who loves individual paintings. He discovered his passion for art when he moved to Austria as a teenager and regularly visited museums as part of his cultural journey of discovery. His favorite pieces are abstract oil paintings created by local artists. He often visits galleries and studios to find new works that appeal to him and adds them to his ever-growing collection. He even owns some original works by well known Austrian painters like Franz West and Friedensreich Hundertwasser!
From footballer to art collector, Jerome Onguene has proven he can be successful both on and off the pitch! His dedication to mastering both the sport and the arts is inspiring and shows that if you put your mind to it, anything is possible! For 2023, we hope Jerome continues to thrive as a professional footballer at Red Bull Salzburg while collecting more unique pieces for his ever-growing art collection! We wish him all the best!
